Our next coffee morning is:
2:00pm UK Time | Wednesday 02 April 2025
Topic: Touring and traveling in the United States of America (USA)
Our next guest contributor is:
Matthew Covey – Executive Director of Tamizdat
Do you have upcoming plans for tours and activity in the USA? Have you toured or worked there before? Do you feel prepared or have questions you’d like answered?
At our next coffee morning (afternoon) we will be joined by Matthew Covey, lawyer, and Executive Director of Tamizdat which facilitates and advocates for international artists mobility and cultural exchange. Tamizdat is the Mobility Information Point in USA and a member of On The Move’s network of Mobility Information Points, like us.
Join us to better understand the practicalities of what you need to enter and tour America in terms of visas, including any current issues and changes to be aware of.
You may have some questions, or concerns, or just want to find out more before you start planning your travel.
This session will be useful to any performing arts organisations (theatre, dance, music etc.) and individual artists committed to, planning or interested in touring the USA. Everyone is welcome; but is more aimed at artists and organisations with some knowledge of the American immigration system. These pages will give you an overview of the immigration system and is a good place to start before coming to the session.
There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions following a brief overview from Matthew, and we strongly encourage you to include any questions you might have as part of the sign-up process or by sending them directly to us on email (infopoint@wai.org.uk) so that we can tailor the session as much as possible to your needs.
This session will be recorded, and resources will be shared on our website.

Open to all artforms, our monthly online coffee mornings can connect you with other UK-based artists and creative organisations to share cross border working challenges, plans and ambitions. Each session will feature contributions from partners and networks we work with to share current insights and key updates around international mobility.
The coffee mornings usually take place online every first Tuesday of the month between 09:30-10:30am GMT.
Session agendas are shaped by what you and our speaker bring to the day: whether it be administration for exhibitions or productions; supporting artists to come across borders with new immigration rules; or simply joining to connect with others facing similar challenges. Our aim is to create an informal, supportive network of internationally focused peers.
Automatic closed captioning is available during the sessions.
