Join us on Wednesday 1 February at 11:00am GMT for an overview of Creative Europe (Culture sub-programme) and how it relates to the UK as a country not participating in the programme.

Date: 01 February 2023
Time: 11:00am - 12:00pm GMT

Although the UK has left the EU and Creative Europe, we’re very much still out and about in Europe and working with our European friends and contacts.

While the UK no longer participates in Creative Europe, we nonetheless can still engage with some Creative Europe supported networks, initiatives and projects, even if more indirectly than before.

Come along to this short informal session run by Arts Infopoint UK for an overview of culture strand of the EU’s new Creative Europe programme for 2021-2027. The programme supports the creative and cultural sectors across the EU members states and other participating countries including Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Tunisia, and Ukraine. If you work in Europe, this event will probably be helpful for you to stay on top of the wider context that your contacts, European neighbours and counterparts are operating in.

Join Kate Deans (Creative Scotland & Arts Infopoint UK) and Katie James (Wales Arts International & Arts Infopoint UK) and a couple of former Creative Europe beneficiaries to explore:

  • An overview of the main initiatives that the EU is currently undertaking in creativity and culture.
  • What’s new regarding Creative Europe strands such as Networks, Cooperation Projects, Platforms, Culture Moves Europe (formerly i-Portunus), Music Moves Europe, and Perform Europe.
  • How UK organisations can be involved to a lesser extent in Creative Europe initiatives and partnerships.
  • Insights into how other UK organisations have been adapting to new context.
  • What else Arts Infopoint UK can support you with following the UK’s exit from the EU.

What this session isn’t:

  • A set of funding opportunities directly open to the UK (the UK no longer participates or pays into the programme).
  • An in-depth session on technicalities and application forms (we aren’t an official contact point for the programme).
  • A session that looks at other EU funding available to arts organisations in the UK.

We welcome attendees to share information about other EU opportunities for UK arts organisations in this forum.

As we get closer to the date, we’ll announce the full line-up of speakers, which will include former Creative Europe beneficiaries who are still working in European partnerships.

Following this event, we will be running a small, closed workshop for previous Creative Europe beneficiaries, where we will cover third country participation in Cooperation Projects in more detail. If you have previously run a Creative Europe project, you can send us a message asking to attend by e-mailing infopoint@wai.org.uk or via Facebook or Twitter @ArtsInfopointUK. As this will be a very complex topic, we have to keep this restricted to those that already have a high level of understanding of Creative Europe terminology, budgets and application processes.
